The Fernite questionnaire:-

What do you like about Fernite?

The positive attitude and future growth plans for the company, with a mix of modern technology and a skilled workforce we can offer a superior service to all our customers.

What is your favourite quote?

It is actually a verse from a book I read to my children and the sentiments rang a bell in my mind. ”You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose.” Dr Seuss, Oh, The Places You’ll Go!  If my children believe they can do whatever they put their mind to then I think I have done well in bringing them up.

What is your favourite holiday destination?

My wife and I had a once in a lifetime trip Gorilla trekking in Rwanda’s Volcans National Park – the intelligence and grace of these immensely powerful creatures is truly humbling and an experience I will never forget.  Outside the national parks, the country was one of the friendliest and greenest places we have visited.  I’d like to take my children when they grow up, even though we try not to go to the same place twice.

Which super-hero would you like to be and why?

I’ve been a superhero fan since I can remember and Batman has always been a favourite, being a hero with a darker side and not having any supernatural powers other than his own skills and talents.  The billionaire status is also appealing…

If you could pick anything to be really good at what would it be (and why)?

I have always wanted to be better at foreign languages and be able to speak to people with ease when visiting their country.

What is your favourite day trip?

I have a grown-up day out with my wife to Alton Towers once a year,  it was our first date and something we keep as treat to ourselves to remind us we are not just parents but people as well.  With the kids, a picnic at the park with a kite and ice cream is great fun.

What are your hobbies & a bit about them?

Other than building Lego with my son, or drawing pictures with my daughter, I like to get out on my mountain bike. I’ve recently revived this hobby from my youth and like to both ride my bike and tinker with it.

What is your favourite drink?

I am a bit of a gin lush and have been collecting (and consuming) different gins for at least 10 years.  I currently have about 50 different bottles to choose from and do like an occasional G&T (preferably on a beach).  On a school night, I do like a good coffee, with a Rwandan maraba bourbon bringing back memories.

What do you dream of?

Paying off the mortgage.

What things do you like?

It’s a bit of a cliché but I like the small things in life; spending time with the family, going for walks in the park, good local food – particularly ribeye – with good wine and good people to share it with.

What do you dislike?

A major dislike of mine is dishonesty, I would rather have a difficult honest conversation than be lied to.
