While granulator knives reduce the size of output materials, a granulator screen controls the final size of the granulated material. Having a granulator screen below the cutting chamber, ensures that only correct size particles pass through.

At Fernite we manufacture granulator knives, screens, and offer knives sharpening service. Please contact us with your requirements.

Plastic Granulator Knives

The arrangement of granulator knives, tip angle, speed, and sharpness all significantly influence granulate quality and granulator efficiency.

One of the main factors determining efficiency of granulator knives is a knife tip profile. The shape of the knife tip affects how cleanly the material is sheared, the durability of the tip under impact, and how it wears over time.

Another important factor is the cutting angle between the granulator knife edges.

The cutting angle not only influences the quality of the shearing action, but also impacts how precisely the cutting gap can be maintained across the rotor width, the machine’s power requirements, and the overall noise level during the size reduction process.

Granulator Screen Oprions

Our granulator screens come in a variety of types and designs, depending on the machine type, material being processed, and desired granule size. We offer all main types of screens:

1 Round Hole Screens – consistent particle size. Used for plastics, pharmaceuticals, and general-purpose granulation.

2 Slotted Hole Screens – Ideal for long or fibrous materials. Reduces clogging and allows for faster throughput.
Used in recycling or processing of films, fibers, and soft materials.

3 Perforated with raised edges – Precise and wear-resistant. Often used in pharmaceutical or fine powder applications.

We manufacture all constructions of granulator screens, so please discuss your process during the enquiry. General advice is to use flat screens in most granulators that do not require special applications. Curved screens are mostly used in high-output machines, as they provide greater surface area. Also, we manufacture segmented screens for easier maintenance.

Please let us know the particle size you require. We can produce from very fine hole size that are applicable for powders to large openings suitable for coarse recycling.

All granulator screens can be manufactured from different materials:

  • Carbon Steel – economical and suitable for less abrasive materials.
  • Stainless Steel – corrosion-resistant and that is why preferred in food, pharmaceutical, or corrosive environments.
  • Hardened or Coated Steel – applicable for highly abrasive materials such as glass-filled plastics.
