We’d like to introduce the latest members of the Fernite team – Jack, Brydan, Ugurcan and James who have started an apprenticeship with us.
We have been providing placement opportunities for university and college students for several years – but 2019’s is our largest and most varied programme to date with each student specialising in a different aspect of the manufacturing process.
Hands-on education with state-of-the-art technology.
We work with leading Universities and Colleges in our region to provide challenging and rewarding apprenticeship programmes. While studying part-time at university or college, students gain valuable experience in a busy, modern factory equipped with state-of-the-art advanced manufacturing technology.
Some of the skills our apprentices will be learning include programming, production planning, product development , technical drawing, factory management and customer service.
Our apprentices will also have the opportunity to learn specialist manufacturing techniques, working alongside highly skilled team members with decades of experience.
Combining University Study with Factory Experience
This year we have taken on two Degree Apprentices in conjunction with Sheffield Hallam University. Having completed their A-levels, our degree apprentices will combine their work at Fernite with study for a BEng honours degree.
Degree students specialise in a particular aspect of engineering in their final year, and gain a detailed theoretical knowledge of engineering concepts as well as the practical hands-on experience that working in a factory environment provides.
Investing in future leaders
By choosing Fernite, you are working with a company which is investing in the next generation of manufacturing professionals.
While many of our competitors have reduced manufacturing in the UK in favour of outsourcing to low-cost economies, Fernite are investing in talented students with a passion for science and engineering. This will ensure we are well equipped to develop even more advanced products, harness new technologies, and help our customers improve their production processes for many years to come.
