Fernite of Sheffield Ltd has been shortlisted for a prestigious Sheffield Business Award.
Organised by Sheffield Chamber of Commerce, the Sheffield Business Awards recognise exceptional local businesses of all sizes and from a wide range of sectors across Sheffield and South Yorkshire.
Fernite has been nominated for the Wake Smith Excellence in Manufacturing Award, which is awarded for exceptional standards, investment and innovation in the manufacturing sector.
Founded in 1832 Fernite have developed a world class reputation as a producer of machine knives, and supply world leading brands with high quality knives for use in the food, packaging, recycling print and paper industries. Every Fernite product is manufactured in Sheffield.
Over the past twelve months, Fernite have carried out a significant programme of investment both in technological improvements and by expanding and upskilling the workforce. This has included taking on two apprentices trained at the University of Sheffield’s Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC), which is renowned for delivering outstanding specialist training for young people seeking a career in the manufacturing sector.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony hosted at Ponds Forge on Thursday 7th December.
