James Kitching – Managing Director

What do you like about Fernite?

We have some great people who are committed to improving our business and to serving our customers.  I also love it when we discover a customer application where we can value engineer a machine knife so we help our customers improve the cut and the price.

What is your favourite quote?

“Your imagination is your preview of life’s coming attractions.” -Albert Einstein.

What is your favourite holiday destination?

Probably Tuscany, it has it all; great food, great wine, mountains,  rocks, sunshine, culture and even the sea.  Although I do like New Zealand too (which  has all the above except culture!).

Which super-hero would you like to be and why?

Spiderman – see hobbies.

If you could pick anything to be really good at what would it be?

I would have loved to have played cricket for Yorkshire and England. Unfortunately I was only a very average club player!

What is your favourite day trip?

Either a day mountain biking or climbing in the Peak District or a family trip to the coast.

What are your hobbies & a bit about them?

I am a keen cyclist and enjoy mountain biking and more recently road biking (must be getting old).  I also love rock climbing, hiking, camping and anything in the outdoors.  I also have a wife, two daughters aged 4 & 7 and a dog, so enjoy spending time with the family too.

What is your favourite drink?

Either a decent red wine or a real ale,  I am a fan of the Bradfield Brewery at the moment.

What do you dream of?

Getting to a point where if you asked our customers, ‘Who is your best supplier?’ the universal response would be ‘Fernite’

What things do you like?

People who think and care about what they are doing,  watching the children learn, frosty, clear mornings followed by lunch by a pub fire, being on the moors in the warmth of an early summer day.

What do you dislike?

Freeloaders, inconsiderate people, rain and headwinds!
