| Fernite slideways are accurately machined on a long bed CNC machining centre, and after carefully controlled heat treatment on our own premises are precision ground in matched sets to the standards of accuracy and surface finish essential for the many different and demanding applications. | Fernite blades are manufactured in quality tool steels selected and tempered to meet the specific application, wear or shock resistance, cold or hot shearing. Illustrated are blades with mechanically secured tungsten carbide inserts which are used to cut silicon iron sheet and strip. |

Fernite blades are made exclusively from "Chipper Steel", a steel type
developed for the heavy duty application of producing wood chips from primary timber. | ![]() We make rotary cutters for a diverse range of applications in materials specially selected for optimum performance. For example metal slitting and cut-off blades for wire braided hydraulic hose. |

| The grade of steel selected is subject to the application, our extensive experience is
available to you and our technical staff will be pleased to advise you. Heat treatment is carried out in our own plant, the optimum combination of hardness and strength being dependent upon the steel specification and knife application, which is achieved by careful control of the tempering cycle. We are also able to advise on a range of specialised coatings for your specific application. | |
